Books I've read this week.

I found John Connolly 'The Black Angel' to be along the same lines of storytelling as Dan Brown's books, it's a quest for something hidden. In this book the Black angel is linked to an ancient church of bones in Eastern Europe and the 1944 slaughter at a French monastery where the object of myths was stolen. The hero of John Connolly's book, Charlie Parker is helped by his friend to trace a missing girl and to solve the mystery of her disappearance and the link to the Church of Bones. In the course of his research he uncovers the truth behind the mystery of why the monks have guarded the secret of the Black Angel with their lives for centuries until finally all parts of the puzzle comes together and puts the world at risk.

Even though I found this book to be fast moving and an interesting read, I felt it had a weak ending.

Michael Connelly 'Chasing the Dime' tells the story of Henry Pierce. Henry has
moved into a new apartment after splitting up with his girlfriend. The first thing he does is plug in his new phone and finds himself on the hunt for a mysterious Lilly. Who is Lilly? And why do so many lonely men keep phoning her? Henry finds himself haunted by not only his past and the ghost of his sister, but by wanting to help Lilly before it is too late.

I found ths book to be an easy read and I was quickly caught up in the story, though by the end it became very predictable, which was disappointing.

I hope you all have been busy with your writing and have been busy reading too. By reading, you'll learn what works and doesn't work. Both these books I felt the writers rushed the ends and hadn't given as much thought to them as they did the beginning of their books.
