Oh, what a feeling!

Happy Birthday, Baby Boy!
First of all, where has  all the years gone?
I expect it was life getting in the way of living that doesn’t give you time to stop and reflect too often.

Today, I’ve had time to reflect back over twenty-four years as it's my baby boy's birthday today.... (I know he's a grown man, but.... forever he's my BB)

So I baked him a cake while he sleeps the day away after coming home  from work after a night shift, bless him.
Talking about babies, well you knew I'd get back to talking about writing at some point soon; last night, I signed my first publishing contract.

Yes, you did read that right.
It’s amazing how technology has made it possible to sign a contract and to send it back in one night.  Now I really do feel like a writer as I shall be paid royalty for a short story I’m having published. The crime anthology will be published next August 2012.

Okay, okay, I’m trying to make it sound much grander than it is, but whether it’s just a few pence or half a million pounds.  When I was at school struggling to write half a page in my English class, and stopping my fountain pen from making a mess all over what I’d struggled to write down, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought anyone would be publishing a short story written by me, let allow paying me for it.
If my teachers could only see me now!

Though, there again, in my school report they wrote I was a bit of a daydreamer.
In my mind, my ability to daydream has been very handy as I wouldn’t have been able to come up with amazing plots ideas, if I hadn’t been able to.  Maybe, if they had thought about my ability a bit more they could've add, possible career ideas for the future, an artist or writer.

Reflect on my future now,

Jarmara

Well done! Yes, you are a writer. Though you didn't need a contract to prove that. Your determination and perseverance was enough to prove it.

You deserve success.

Hi Jarmara .. well done .. what good news - amazing how easy things are - unless you get in a tech frenzy or turn-off like I can sometimes!

Happy birthday son .. and enjoy the next few days - celebrations to be had. Cake looks good .. is chocolate his favourite?

Cheers Hilary
